Sept. 22, 2010, Boston, MA—Immunetics will be participating as an exhibitor in the upcoming AABB annual meeting to be held in Baltimore on Oct. 9-12. Attendees are welcome to visit the company at exhibit booth #1175.
The exhibit will highlight the BacTx® test for bacterial contamination of platelets, which is currently in clinical trials. This test permits the rapid detection of bacterial contaminants at levels between 102 and 104 CFU/ml in platelet units.
An evaluation of the BacTx® kit's performance in an independent study will also be presented in a poster by Dr. Michael Jacobs of Case Western University and colleagues, as part of the AABB poster session.
Additional products to be featured will include the Chagas' immunoblot kit, for detection of antibodies to the parasite T. cruzi in serum or plasma samples. The immunoblot assay provides more specific information on the reactivity of T. cruzi antibodies than ELISA or other screening methods. Immunetics R&D scientists will present a poster (# SP379)entitled "Sensitive and Specific Immunoblot Assay for Detection of T. cruzi Antibodies in Serum Samples" in the poster section "Transfusion-Transmitted Diseases: Chagas, Malaria and Tick-borne Diseases" which will be available for viewing between Saturday, Oct. 9th at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, Oct. 12th at 2:00 PM.
